Now he's sitting beside the basket, disc dangling from one hand, staring into the middle distance while quietly reconsidering every decision that brought him here.
It wasn't a terrible drive.
The upshot was fine.
And technically, that first putt almost went in.
Yet somehow, there it is on the scorecard again.
Bogey.
He's not angry anymore. He's moved beyond anger. The Bogeyman has reached that special kind of disc-golf acceptance where you pick up your disc, sigh deeply, and tell the card:
"I'll get it back on the next one."
He will not.
